The above links to an article about Book-A-Million’s quarterly earnings. Deeper down, however, one finds a few paragraphs about a new page within BAM’s website, linked here. It seems BAM has locked on to the Amazon/Hachette dispute and is ready to step in. As I’ve stated before, I’m all for lower prices, but it should not be at the expense of the hard-working authors and publishers who create these fine works for us to enjoy. Hopefully, other bookstores, chains and indie’s alike, will take on and promote Hachette’s authors during this argument. Not that I don’t like Amazon, I buy from them, have Amazon Prime, and self-publish a few books through them. But I don’t want to see them using their vast economic power to bully others. And it kind of seems that way.
