900 Signatures

The Open Letter to Amazon crafted by one of leaders of the Author’s Guild has garnered 900 or so  signatures. That’s a lot, to be sure. The letter put on Change.org has signatures somewhere in the high thousands though. But what does that mean?
I think it means indie authors are watching this issue very closely. Amazon alone is not responsible for the rise of self-publishing, but they have had a heavy hand in enabling the current trends. Indie authors have a lot riding on Amazon’s continued success. But so do traditional publishers, with Amazon still holding on to such a huge share of the book market.
I have to believe that somewhere out there is a middle ground where everyone can support authors of all kinds and still do business. If they can only find it.
