‘Preciate That, George!

🙂 Hey all!

The above title refers to one Mr. George R.R. Martin, author of the famous(and infamous) A Song of Ice and Fire series, the first of which is the now well-known book A Game of Thrones. The novel that spawned a multi-billion dollar TV series. Speaking of, the next season starts in just over a week. Niiccccce. 🙂

As excited as I am for the show to return, it’s not half as anxious as I am for the next book in the Ice and Fire series. Like, really anxious.

Now, I’m certain Mr. Martin is well-aware of his fans concern, and it was in that light that he recently released a chapter from that novel. Those so inclined can jump to said chapter at this link. It’s an, interesting chapter, to be sure. And don’t just read a few lines, you’ll be tricked into thinking you know what he’s talking about and he’s really not. Which is one of the hallmarks of a brilliant writer, which Mr. Martin most definitely is.

Now I’m no stranger to putting sample chapters on blogs, I’ve done it a time or two myself. But I don’t take five years between novels. Keep in mind the Mr. Martin started this series in 1996, and to date has written five books. Granted, they’re each huge volumes in their own right. And we need to respect an author’s space, he or she needs to take as much time as necessary to get the work in exactly the shape they want it in. I would certainly want that courtesy.

But despite Mr. Martin’s best intentions, this small taste, instead of sating my appetite until the novel can be completed, has instead made me want him to hurry it up all the more. Ahh!!!!! Thaaaanx!

It’s in that light that I’ve decided not read any more samples, if any are offered. Of course, I say that now, we’ll see in say, a year from now, the next book still isn’t out, and he releases another chapter. Will I cave? Probably.

Speaking of novels and sample chapters, J.S. Eaton is working on finishing up the final draft for Falls a Dark Shadow: Arcania Rising Book Two. I might be willing to drop a few paragraphs in the Night Castle if there’s some interest. 🙂 Just let me know.

Well, that’s all I have at the moment. Be sure to read the Arya chapter I linked too earlier. Poor girl’s in a dark place, but most of the characters in that series are. C’mon George!!!!!!!

Take Care and God Bless!

See You in the Future

New Story on Tales of Aeonith

Hey all, just thought I’d let all my friends and readers know there’s a new story up on Tales of Aeonith! There’s a familiar character in that story for anyone who’s read A Redemption. What could he be doing in that place? Echo’s of things to come? Could Be.

Also, there’s a great new store on the web, True Dragon’s Fantasy Emporium. Check it out soon, they’ve got great shirts for kids and adults, and some really cool dragon stuff as well.

Anywho, enjoy the story, and I’ll update on you all soon the the status of Arcania Rising, Part Two, as well as some other neat goodies!

See you in the Future,

J S Eaton

Hey, Where have you Been?

Hello friends, fans and readers! Been a while since I wrote(on this blog anyway :)). ‘Ol J S has been super-busy these past few weeks, and he’s got lots more to do. Not the least of which is finish working on Part Two to the vaunted Arcania Rising series, now tentatively titled  Falls a Dark Shadow.

The next book will naturally follow the further adventures of Stavross, Tynaul and the crew, as well as General Lysis and his faithful alluvar Adjunt. If you don’t yet know who any of those people are, hurry on over to Amazon and pick up your copy of Comes a Dark Heir now. Go ahead, you can go order it and come back to this page 🙂 After you’re done reading, be sure to leave your opinion, good, bad or otherwise on Amazon, Goodreads, or wherever you like to make yourself heard here on the World Wide Web!

Other projects have kept me super busy as well, although those aren’t yet ready to be unveiled. Anywho, rest assured I’m still hard at it here at the Night Castle, hoping to get the next book out sooner rather than later. We’ll See!

Been working on some short fiction for Tales of Aeonith also, will have that up when it’s ready. “Til then you can read up on the last chapter of The Shadow War, don’t miss it!

Until next time, good luck and God bless!

See You in the Future,
